A room designed for staying in

The room felt bright, polished, and comfortable without losing the old-Palm-Beach character of the hotel. The large bed and layered linens made it a genuinely pleasant place to slow down while rain moved through outside.

The marble bathroom was one of the strongest parts of the room: double sinks, a generous glass shower, robes waiting nearby, and plantation shutters framing the view. It felt residential rather than purely functional.

The small details felt intentional

The upgrade showed up in details that are easy to overlook on a feature list. The bathroom drawer was stocked with practical items, L’Occitane products, and an Aquis hair towel instead of leaving guests to call down for basics.

None of these things justifies the full price by itself. Together, they create the feeling that someone thought through how the room would actually be used.

The Flagler Club lounge earned its place

The food-and-drink photo below was taken in the Flagler Club lounge, not in one of The Breakers’ restaurants. Sushi, salmon tartare, cheese, bottled drinks, and a properly served martini turned the lounge into a real part of the stay rather than a room with a few packaged snacks.

The food and alcohol in the lounge were the best parts of Flagler Club for us. That distinction matters: the best club lounges replace moments when you would otherwise leave the hotel, wait for a table, or return to the room. With the rain limiting time outside, having a polished place to sit, eat, and have a drink became even more valuable.

The best surprise appeared after dinner

The most memorable little add-on was not something we fully appreciated until we ate at the hotel’s restaurants. During our stay, the alcohol charges from those meals were removed from our final bill as part of the Flagler Club experience.

It felt like a genuine surprise rather than another benefit we had to track or remember to redeem. For a couple planning to dine and drink on property, that perk can meaningfully change the value of the upgrade—and it is exactly the kind of detail that is easy to miss when comparing room rates online.

Rain changed the weekend—not the verdict

From the room, the famous palm-lined drive sat beneath heavy gray clouds. We did not get the ideal beach weather, but the property remained beautiful and there was still plenty to appreciate indoors and between showers.

A luxury hotel proves itself when the original plan falls apart. The Breakers gave us enough atmosphere, service, food, and space that the weekend never felt wasted. I would absolutely plan more outdoor time on a return visit, but I would not describe this one as anything less than a great stay.
